Praying, Healing, Life Giving Presence

Cleansing

How often have You washed my feet,
Lord As I trod in the mire of my sinful deeds,
As I walked where danger kept me near the brim
Of what You forbade and I thought were my needs?

How often have You washed my feet, Lord
When I walked the widened path of laziness and greed
Looked the other way as lepers of ill-begotten dreams
Looked to me for comfort, for spiritual seed?

How often have You washed my feet, Lord
When at the banquet of life I failed to feed
The hungry, soiling my soul with selfishness
Your exhorting words rarely to heed?

Wash mostly my soiled heart, Lord
That Your gentle action may ever lead
Me the wants of my fellow man
To notice and more earnestly to read
