Celebrating Metropolitan Archbishop’s Feast Day
On December 19, 2016 the Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil the Great hosted His Grace, Metropolitan Archbishop Stefan Soroka, in anticipation of his feast day. Archbishop Soroka joined the Sisters for Vespers which was followed by a festive dinner in the Sister’s dining room.
Sister Dorothy Ann Busowski, OSBM greeted the Archbishop in the name of the Sisters and the Basilian Associates with both Christmas and feast day wishes. In her greeting, Sister reflected on who and what the Archbishop symbolizes for the Sisters of Saint Basil the Great expressing that he is more than a title, His Grace, Archbishop Metropolitan… “Instead we see you as one who walks beside us and with us in pleasant talk of each days hopes and worries. As one who remembers our special history and the good that the Sisters have done in the Ukrainian Catholic Church in America. As one who cares about our questions and hopes. One who shares in our happy surprises and lofty celebrations. As one who extends himself with his whole being toward all in the Archeparchy. Indeed, as one who stays beside us and stays with us, sharing your everlasting kindness.”
After a special Ukrainian greeting from the five Sisters from Ukraine, who are ministering in the United States, all enjoyed a delicious dinner followed by gift giving and fellowship.
