Mission & Ministries

The Sisters engage in service that glorifies God while serving God's people.

While there are many ways to answer God’s call, our Sisters choose to respond by committing themselves to expressing God’s eternal love through deeds focused on making the world a better place and serving as a praying, healing, life giving presence.

  • Following the example of St. Basil the Great, the Sisters work to relieve the needs of the oppressed, the broken, and the unlearned with patience and charity.
  • Following the example of St. Macrina, the Sisters aspire to touch the lives of others by providing counsel and comfort, with humility and a deep abiding faith.
  • Following the example of St. Gregory of Nazianzen, the Sisters engage in peaceful prayer and study, learning as they teach others.
  • Following the example of Gregory of Nyssa, the Sisters provide comfort in troubled times, finding and sharing with others the beauty of God’s creation.

The Sister of the Order of Saint Basil the Great is a living symbol of all that is promised in the great seal of Saint Basil: vision and mission, love for God and love of neighbor, sacrifice, fortitude, and perseverance. She serves primarily, but not exclusively, the people of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, and engages in activities that glorify God while serving God’s people. This service includes education, pastoral ministry, spiritual direction, liturgical music and ecclesiastical art, and the spiritual and cultural legacy of Ukraine.

Guided by The Kenotic Way, the Constitution of the Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil the Great, each of the Sisters contributes to her community and the wider community with her God-given skills and talents. She accepts challenges and seeks solutions in God’s name and with God’s help.
