Title: Director of Development
Reports to: Provincial
Supervised by: Provincial

Role Summary: The Development Coordinator, in collaboration with the Provincial and
the Provincial leadership team, is responsible for the Province’s development efforts,
supervising the development office, cultivating relationships, establishing yearly
fundraising goals, and deepening a culture of philanthropy among benefactors and
members of the Province.

The Development Coordinator advances the mission of the Sisters of St. Basil by
overseeing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive development program that
includes annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, grants, corporate sponsorships,
special events, campaigns, and print and digital appeals.

Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy and Leadership
● Creates new initiatives for raising funds and cultivating relationships.
● Provides direction to the Provincial and Leadership team on items related to
development.
● Collaborates and consults with the Financial Advisory Board and committees.
Staff Supervision
● Supervises the development office staff by providing direction, ongoing feedback,
and an annual review based on the job descriptions.
Donor Cultivation and Planned Giving
● Cultivates relationships with Basilian donors, friends, benefactors, and apostolates.

Promotes Estate Planning
Budget, Gift Administration and Reporting
● Collaborates with the Provincial Administration to develop a budget and establish
benchmarks per Province guidelines.
● Works with the Province Administration on gift reporting and gift restrictions to
ensure all gifts are processed and acknowledged appropriately per the Province’s
requirements and the donors’ requests.
● Leverages data to regularly report on donor engagement, goals, events, campaigns,
and other metrics of success. Makes recommendations based on this data.

Development Communications

● Oversees development materials to ensure development and communication
programs align through paper and digital outreach to Basilians, friends, and
benefactors
Education and Experience
● Minimum of five (5) years of experience in development, fundraising, or related
field
● Proven track record of success in the development efforts of religious institutes,
including annual giving, events, campaigns, in-house mailings, major gifts, and
planned giving.
● Experience as a fundraising strategist and relationship builder
● Experience securing grants and corporate sponsorship.
● Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

● Desire to innovate and creatively, collaboratively solve problems and maximize opportunities
● Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively
with all the constituencies – Provincial, Council, Basilians, apostolate staffs,
donors, and volunteers
● Possess a strong work ethic, competitive nature, strategic thinking, and planning
Skills

Mission and Communication Skills
● Knowledge and understanding of the mission of the Sisters of St. Basil and the
Ukrainian Catholic Church preferred
● Possess superior communication and presentation skills to express the Basilian
mission, vision, and goals with clarity, passion, and persuasion.

Technology and Language Skills
● Possess strong IT skills
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor management software: social media
Proficiency
● Optional but not required: bi̇-lingual, English Ukraini̇an language skills
And anything else that is requested

Mental/Physical Requirements
● Regular attendance at the Provincial Motherhouse
● Ability and willingness to travel and work nights and weekends as needed for
meetings and events
● Ability to drive; must maintain valid driver’s license
● Frequently required to walk, stand, bend, and sit
● Frequently required to lift pull, and/or move up to 10 pounds
● Work environment is an office with a low noise level

Employment Status
● Full-Time (exempt from overtime)
