Mother Emanujila Vishka, OSBM, General Superior, and Sister Sevastiana Zinkevych, OSBM, Vicar and First Councilor, concluded their trip to the United States this month and returned to Rome. They serve as the highest ranking members of the Basilian Sisters’ global leadership team, known as the General Council.

During their visit, they were interviewed by legendary host Leo Iwaskiw on the Ukrainian Hour radio program in Philadelphia – the episode aired March 14. They also collected money to support repairs and renovations on the Generalate House, which is 100 years old, and like other older buildings, has its share of problems. This little red house on a quiet Roman street is invaluable because it allows the Basilian Sisters to maintain crucial relationships with the Vatican and key offices in the Catholic Church. Since mid-2025, more than 100 people have stayed overnight or attended events there, including cardinals, bishops, ambassadors to the Holy See, nuncios, journalists, Sisters, and still others.

Since returning to Rome, the Sisters have met with the firm that will address the extensive water infiltration that has caused major deterioration to certain parts of the building. This company will fix exterior holes, gaps, and cracks to keep water out as well as repair the interior damage.
