On Saturday, April 17 the Basilian Spirituality Center hosted a symposium to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s historic visit to Ukraine. “St. John Paul II and Ukrainians” was organized by the St. Sophia Religious Association of Ukrainian Catholics, Inc., the Basilian Spirituality Center, and the Sisters of St. Basil the Great, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Selfreliance Federal Credit Union.

Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak began the event with a prayer and opening remarks, after which several papers were presented. Manor College President, Jonathan Peri, then hosted a panel discussion and finally Bishop Andriy Rabiy offered the closing prayer. Overall the symposium was a wonderful opportunity for scholarly contributions and reflection about the papal visit to Ukraine.
