Who took care of the poor and uneducated before welfare and public schools? Looking back to the 4th Century, we will see that government was keener on collecting taxes then caring for the poor and uneducated. This presentation will explore what the Church was doing to alleviate poverty during St. Basil the Great’s time and how it’s still relevant today.
