This talk will focus on sources for Mary's life both inside and outside the canonical gospels.

Mary, Jesus’ mother is the most important woman in Catholicism. Her influence extends both worldwide and across time. She may be found in the Church’s liturgy, in the finest art museums, even in the Quran.

The canonical gospels offer precious little on the life of the Blessed Mother yet there are other extant ancient traditions. What do these say about Mary? What do they suggest about what we can know of her?
