Sr. Ann Laszok, OSBM invited Sr. Monica Jaciuk, OSBM from Argentina to give a workshop to celebrate World Day for Consecrated Life. The theme of the day was “Interculturality and New Paths of Communion and Hope in Consecrated Life.” The day started with Matins and Divine Liturgy to thank God for all the Sisters in our Order.

Sr. Monica Jaciuk chose two symbols, Bread and Light, to show how, as consecrated women, we are Christ’s light to people to the people we encounter through our ministry and service. We feed the hungry spiritually, psychologically and physically through our praying, healing and life-giving presence.

Sr. Monica used the metaphor of bread-baking to the “making” of a healthy community. Just as the Baker mixes the individual ingredients and transforms it into a tasty bread, so God kneads each Sister into a healthy community to make the best BREAD with the gifts we are given so that we can satiate the hunger in others. The Sisters actually baked bread while reflecting on their individual gifts in community in order to become a Prophetic Sign of Hope for the People of God. As the Sisters enjoyed eating the bread they made, they expressed how enriching the day was.
